UAR Artist Talk: Mikaela Montenegro
This talk by Mikaela covers the influence of postwar cinema in contemporary painting.
I talk about the research I’ve done these past few years about the cinematographic techniques in the work of film directors like Andrei Tarkovsky, Michelangelo Antonioni, Alan Parker, etc. which served as powerful ways to portray the collective trauma after the war. After giving an insight into this subject, I talk about how these techniques have been trespassed to other media in contemporary art, especially painting and how they continue to be a resource for many artists, including myself to work regarding similar concepts such as mental health, trauma and vulnerability applied to the current context. – Mikaela Montenegro
