Pulling the Thread features artworks made by eight artists who participated in the UA NYC Studio Program from January to April 2025: Andres Palomar, Anita Kucharczyk, Anne Hamilton, Carol Paik, Caryn Wei Ya Xie, Clarice Sanvicente, Masha Neverova, and Rafael Beck Lenz.

This exhibition displays intimate, small-format pieces that explore personal worlds through layered translucency, delicate mark-making, vigorous movements, decisive choices, and suggestive forms. Each piece reveals combinations of private landscapes and narratives, sometimes through subtle shifts of light and shadow and others by overlapping textures.

By pulling literally and metaphorically the threads across digital, paper, resin, oil, chalk, and beyond, these artists invite us to contemplate how visual affections unfold and connect. Together, these artworks weave a meditative space where the invisible layers of our own stories come into a gentle focus, encouraging us to recognize the quiet depth of our human condition in the smallest gestures.
