Rodrigo Braga
Nascido em Manaus em 1976, ainda na infância mudou-se para Recife, onde graduou-se em Artes Visuais pela UFPE (2002). Atualmente vive entre Paris e Rio de Janeiro.

Seu trabalho tem se desenvolvido através de imersões em diversas paisagens rurais, suburbanas ou florestais ao redor do mundo. Com práticas bastante corporais, suas criações assemelham-se a ritualizações que ressignificam os espaços e seus elementos por meio da performance ou de construções manuais in situ. Suas mídias principais são fotografia e vídeo, gerando uma intrigante iconografia entre o real e o fantástico. Em contextos institucionais já realizou importantes instalações site specific e em seu ateliê tem práticas voltadas ao desenho e a escrita. Suas obras possuem alto teor subjetivo e, de forma indireta, abordam questões políticas centrais das discussões socioambientais atuais, expondo as relações conflituosas entre a humanidade e sua lida utilitária da natureza.

Expondo desde 1999, Braga foi nomeado a diversos prêmios internacionais e recebeu alguns dos principais prêmios para arte contemporânea do Brasil, a exemplo do Prêmio Marcantonio Vilaça Funarte 2009, do Prêmio PIPA 2012 e do Prêmio MASP Talento Emergente 2013. Em 2012 participou da 30ª Bienal Internacional de São Paulo. Um ano depois exibe a obra Tônus no Cinema do MoMA PS1 em Nova York. Em 2016 realizou individual no Palais de Tokyo (Prêmio SAM Art Projects), Paris. Possui obras em acervos particulares e institucionais no Brasil e no exterior, como MAM-SP, MAM-RJ e Maison Européenne de La Photographie – Paris.

Rodrigo Braga
Born in Manaus – Amazon, Brazil, (1976), in his childhood he moved to Recife, where he graduated in Visual Arts at UFPE (2002). Currently based between Paris and Rio de Janeiro.

His work has been produced through immersions in several rural, suburban or forested landscapes around the world. With rather body-based practices, his creations resemble ritualizations that re-signify the spaces and their elements through performance or manual constructions in situ. His main media are photography and video, resulting in an intriguing iconography between the real and the fantastic. In institutional contexts, he has already created important site-specific installations and in his studio he has developed practices in drawing and writing. His works have a high subjective content and, indirectly, touch on political issues that are central to current socio-environmental discussions, exposing the conflicting relations between humanity and its utilitarian use of nature.

Exhibiting since 1999, Braga has been nominated for several international awards and received some of the main prizes for contemporary art in Brazil, such as the PIPA Prize 2012 and the MASP Emerging Talent Prize 2013. In 2012 he participated in the 30th International Biennial of São Paulo. A year later he exhibited the work Tônus at the MoMA PS1 Cinema in New York.
