UA Artist Talk – A presentation by Melissa Scalfani

Melissa Scalfani, a sculptor and performance artist, shared her family background, artistic inspirations, and ongoing projects exploring themes of oppression, play, and failure in the US social and political structures. She also discussed her use of unconventional materials such as chain link, cactus spines, and her own hair, and her reflections on the symbolism of flags, particularly the American flag.
