Bio

Amanda Woods is a Nashville-based artist exploring movement by deconstructing and rebuilding her own paintings with textiles and reclaimed materials. Her work exists between painting and sculpture and questions what gets to be permanent. By cutting apart and reassembling painted canvas, she treats each finished piece as both an ending and a beginning, allowing fragments to carry their history forward into new forms.

Her process is rooted in transformation. She works with remnants from previous pieces alongside found and recycled materials, layering, stitching, and reshaping them into dimensional compositions. This approach resists the idea of a fixed outcome and instead embraces change, imperfection, and reuse. The work holds a tension between structure and fluidity, control and release, inviting viewers to consider how meaning evolves over time.

Alongside her studio practice, Woods is deeply engaged in building creative community. Based in Nashville, she is developing concepts that bring artists, musicians, and audiences together through shared space and experience. Her work extends beyond the object into environments that support collaboration, experimentation, and access to the arts, reflecting a belief that creativity is both a personal and collective act.
