A talk by Angel Abreu

K.O.S – Kids of Survival

Angel Abreu (b. 1974, Bronx, NY) is an American artist, writer, and educator who studied philosophy, art history, and comparative literature at the University of Pennsylvania and New York University. He joined the artist collaborative Tim Rollins and Kids of Survival (K.O.S.) in 1986, contributing to major works and exhibitions globally. Their art, inspired by literature and music, is featured in over 120 museum collections, including MoMA and Tate Modern. After founder Tim Rollins’ death in 2017, Abreu led the group, now Studio K.O.S., continuing their socially engaged projects. Abreu also maintains his own art practice and teaches at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. He serves on The Bronx Museum of the Arts’ Education Committee and is a 2020-21 Wallace Wilson Fellow at Deerfield Academy.
