Isolde Kille is a multidisciplinary artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, whose work is primarily centered around painting and video. She received her MFA in fine arts from the University of Art Berlin in Germany (Honor’s Meisterschueler). Her work has been shown in exhibitions throughout the United States and Germany, including, New York, New Mexico, California in the US and Berlin, Cologne in Germany.

Much of her practice is informed by her interest in the transition of analog and digital realms, while each artwork is reflecting her internal experience in dialog with the environment. She often disguises herself, wearing her paintings as coats, using her sculptures as healing and sound devices, to create an alter ego, since making art takes on a more ritualistic process. Are we making the image, or is the image making us? As an artist she is more driven by discovery instead of results. Therefore, her artworks are in a constant flux between processes and products, challenging questions of impermance and coming into existence.

Uncool Gallery Talks: XYZ in alternate reality – A demonstration by Isolde Kille

Isolde Kille will share her development as artist in a film presentation on April 22 at 1pm.

Born and educated in Germany, she holds a MFA in visual communication from the UdK Berlin. In 2000 she showed her cosmic art works in New York City, and was presented by John Weber and in 2007 at Lital Mehr Gallery in Chelsea, New York – yet, still felt the need to go deeper in developing her vision, and in 2009 she went onto a vision quest which ultimately lead her to create on the land. Since 2012 she has been creating a nomadic journey, where she works with the environment to create ‘documents in time’. She is a painter working in all media such as textile, sculpture, video, installation. Her installations are juxtapositions of a time, collapsing digital and analog realities into a surreal installation which are happening spaces for performances, yet, each art work can also stand on its own and has a personal story. Art is a channel of the subconsciousness.

Isolde is a former UA resident and now part of the Uncool Gallery board.

The event is finished.
