UA Artist Talk with Isabel Llaguno: Potatoes, from the table, to the canvas.

The project “Treasure of the Indies” is born from an investigation into the social and political memory of the potato. The resulting works highlight how the potato became a globally significant food as a result of the extraction and looting of botanical resources from the Andes. “Treasure of the Indies” aims to reclaim the colonized memory of the tuber, which has forgotten its origin, symbolic value, and nutritional importance.
