My experience with UA, especially through the mentoring sessions with Carolina Paz, has been very beneficial after a long period of not being truly committed to my art production. Her expertise, passion, and genuine care for each participant are standout qualities on the UA online mentoring group. Even in the short time I've been involved with UA, it has already expanded my artistic research and understanding of the art world. Carolina has provided valuable advice, practical art knowledge, constructive feedback, and engaging discussions on social issues.Thank you!

A community of artists seeking to connect and learn with others. The resources available are thoughtfully created and as diverse as art practices. Artists doing their own thing together—it's a very valuable project.

UA has become invaluable to me in being a part of such a unique artist community. I'm loving the interesting and challenging discussions around the creative process, witnessing the mentorship that helps strengthen an artist's work and vision, and participating in something that feels not only bigger, but also the future. I found Uncool Artist just as I was rediscovering my art practice and changing the focus in my work - it was beautiful timing!

The UA community has been a great support to me as I’ve been refining my art practice. It has been crucial to be in a cohort of artists who are discerning and kind when they insightfully critique my work. Many times I have been able to take in what has been said, and after I’ve sat with it and digested the comments, I have used them to propel my work to become better. By ‘better’ I mean that it becomes more in line with my stated hopes for it, and even sometimes goes beyond what I have initially envisioned.

What I value most about UA is the fact that it was created by an artist with deep knowledge and awareness, carrying a sensitive and diverse vision. There is no mystification, what exists is a living ecosystem that moves through the possibilities of making art, in which everything is potentially considered. Inserted in this global community, I have nourished myself and structured my body of work.

The exchange I have with the Uncool community it’s unmatched. To be able to showcase my work to so many artists, curators and art professionals from the whole world it’s something that really instigates me and my work as an artist.

The Uncool Artist residency was a great opportunity to create a new body of work, meet and befriend other artists, and get valuable feedback on my work from curators and artists.

UA helped me in my artistic career to trust my narrative and my subject matter. They pushed me to follow my artistic soul beyond trends. With the undivided support of Carol, curators, mentors, and fellow artists, I learned to fully embrace my artistic expression. I highly recommend this opportunity to all new and established artists, as everyone will benefit from this incredibly enriching experience.

My experience during the residency at Uncool was crucial in directing and leveraging my artistic career, from exchanging with artists from other countries, learning about their backgrounds, techniques and understanding how the art market works, to the mentoring that curators and members of Uncool gave it to me. A new world was opened after this.

Participating in Uncool Artist has been a transformative experience. Identifying and exchanging experiences with people who challenge and stimulate us has expanded my vision and awareness of the responsibility of each one of us to be truly honest in expressing our joys, anxieties, and often fears. I think I grew a lot in art and in life. It is worth it!

Before, I saw myself as an artist somewhat aimless and not belonging to any group, both to share experiences and think together about my artistic practice in the visual arts. After joining Uncool Artist, I feel part of a community of people who think about art and the world beyond art. A very plural community both in language and thought changed my practice a lot and gave me confidence in speaking and presenting my work.

Experiencing a month at the residence was incredible. I had the opportunity to interact with other artists of different nationalities and be immersed in a city that breathes art. I didn't know Brooklyn and the place is quite peaceful and easy to adapt to. The Uncool team gave me excellent support, always available to resolve my doubts and welcome suggestions. Hope to return soon!

I feel like I'm participating in a generous community. Opportunities have arisen, and I didn't expect them. Now I feel driven to produce more, and I think safer. Now I can see that loneliness was not my problem. It is a system problem. Uncool Artist showed me that I have options and life outside the Ego's system.

Uncool Artist community is a dream come true for me. Where else could one meet, network, brainstorm, share their work and get personable constructive critique, if not Uncool Artist? A community of artists, writers, researchers, curators, art historians, all unabashed and unapologetically dedicated to building and sustaining the future of the arts!

Being part of ILAP was extremely important in my path as an emerging artist. Within Uncool Artist, I met artists from different places and different approaches and moments in their careers. The exchanges with these people continue to help me tread a place in the universe of contemporary art. Understanding how to do an artistic project, the assembly of different categories of portfolios, and the critical monitoring offered by Uncool Artist, were things that helped me to understand how exhibition and market circuits work. Uncool Artist is an international community concerned to support its participants, always with a critical and considerate eye.

Uncool Artist pushes me to go out of my comfort zone. It helps me understand that opportunities are out there, and I must be ready in all senses and see that I can create the chance I'm looking for. Understand the audience, be involved with the audience, storytelling, project my whole year... It is difficult to explain Uncool Artist in a few words because it is a whole new thing.

Uncool has been a tremendous opportunity and challenge to take my practice to the next level. I have found a great community of artists that has allowed me to know better the creative artistic process, which is indispensable as a curator. It is an invaluable opportunity to hear from accomplished artists, curators, art fairs, and museums directors first-hand and in an intimate conversation setting. All of this, topped with the synergy of a group of individuals working towards the common goal of being better art professionals, is what makes all the time, money, and efforts invested pay off!

Uncool Artist has been an inspiring space with a hands-on approach to learning (by doing) that has been instrumental in my recent realizations as an artist.

I joined Uncool Artist at a time when I needed to decide whether or not I was an artist. Here, I found a community that understands my questions and my processes and, since then, has helped me navigate the world of visual arts. Thanks to this creative network, I found partners and opportunities that gave me confidence, which now allows me to evaluate more clearly how I want to position myself in the artistic scene.
