Bio	Flor Godward was born in Argentina and came to the US at the age of 21. She studied psychology in Buenos Aires and North Carolina. Afterwards she studied Photography at MiamiDade College and came upon visual arts by chance. She has been painting and creating ever since. With a strong emphasis on childhood and the way it can be seen, analyzed and portrayed, Flor has developed a body of work that ranges from paintings on canvas to cutouts on wood intervined with varipus materials. She has exhibited in many art fairs and exhibitions, mainly in Miami and Buenos Aires. Flor is a mixed media artist. She currently lives and works in Miami, FL.

Statement

Flor Godward is a Miami based artist. She was born in Argentina and came to the US at the age of 21. She studied psychology and has been interested in Freud’s work ever since, especially his emphasis in childhood as a main factor in the development of a person.
The use of masks and costumes is a constant in her work where she portrays, many times with humor and cynicism, how adults cover up their essence as a survival tool.
Her art reflects, through childhood, the opposites that coexist. Light and darkness live inside humans as well in the world that surrounds them. Childhood’s innocence mixed with its dark solemn side, is her main subject.
Flor was awarded the Best Emerging Artist prize in 2012 at Miami Dade College.
