Statement

Statement

I am an artist of Bolivian and Puerto Rican heritage, specializing in analog and digital photography, and the experimentation and manipulation of my imagery. These result in the creation of impactful installative works using reflective materials such as glass, metals, and acrylics.

My art draws inspiration from the way people’s identities are portrayed and perceived. By projecting images on reflective materials, I aim to engage viewers in the artwork and provoke internal reflection on emotional awareness and perceptions of others.

In a society that tends to categorize and establish delineated and interdependent limits, I seek to highlight the ambiguity of our identities that truly exist in nebulous spaces where we can talk about shades of gray instead of the duality of “black” and “white.”

I challenge established social norms and preconceptions by presenting a more complex and varied view of identity, intending to build bridges of discussion and foster a comprehensive understanding of the term.

Therefore, my work aims to contribute to a more inclusive humanity, urging us to overcome divisive beliefs and embrace diversity. By rejecting limiting categorizations, we can build a harmonious coexistence.
