| Bio | Yinna Higuera is a Colombo-Ecuadorian visual artist, photographer, and cultural manager with a background in psychology, pedagogy, and visual arts. Her work explores themes such as identity, memory, gender, and the relationship between humans and their natural environment, using photography as a tool for reflection and social transformation. Through an approach that combines emotional introspection and social analysis, Yinna creates visual narratives that generate cultural impact and foster critical dialogue. With over 10 years of experience, she has led artistic and educational projects that integrate photography with innovative methodologies. Her work incorporates experimental techniques such as double exposure, photo embroidery, and cyanotype, while also employing art therapy to explore new forms of expression and healing. She has participated in more than 40 individual and group exhibitions across Latin America, the United States, and Europe, including the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Mérida, the Latin American Art Triennial “Abya Yala: Structural Origins” in New York, and “Bitácoras de una Matriz” in Santiago, Chile. As the founder of the Colectivo Fotográfico SolipsisArt Ecuador, Yinna has contributed to the development of projects that integrate photography, identity, and collective memory, solidifying the collective as a benchmark for social and experimental photography in Ecuador. Additionally, during her tenure as president of the Asociación de Fotógrafos Ecuatorianos, she promoted the professionalization of the field and highlighted local talent. She is currently a member of the advisory council of PoyLatam and leads the Ecuadorian team for the 2025 World Photographic Cup. Her educational and artistic work promotes photography as a means of empowerment and social change, reaffirming her commitment to art as a catalyst for cultural and human transformation. |
