Bio | Pedro Leão is a visual artist, translator and teacher who lives in São Paulo. He graduated in Art Education at Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP) in 2003, having been selected to the Foundation’s Annual Art Exhibition in two consecutive years. Between 2001 and 2006, Leão also attended a bachelor’s degree course in Advertising at the University of São Paulo (USP). After a short career in advertising, he invested in a Master of Fine Arts degree at Chelsea College in London between the years of 2010 and 2011. Since 2012, he has been teaching art for middle-school at Colégio Bandeirantes, one of the top private schools in São Paulo. During his MFA at Chelsea in 2010, Leão took up an interest in the critique of outdated models of masculinity, with the goal of developing a positive and propositional approach to new masculinities. The artist has taken part in national art exhibitions since 2020. He was awarded the Waldemar Belisário Prize at the Ilhabela Salon of 2021, and the second place at the Jacareí Salon of 2022. Leão has works in private and public collections in the State of São Paulo. |
