Bio

As a visual artist born in Venezuela, my creative journey began at a young age in Caracas. I later pursued formal training in Fine Arts at the University of Haifa, Israel.

Throughout my career, I have explored various visual art forms, including Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Etching, Silversmith.

My work has been featured in collective and solo exhibitions in Venezuela, as well as in Israel, Switzerland, Romania, and the United States.

In addition to my artistic pursuits, I have served as Director of the Hebraica Gonzalo Benaim Pinto Cultural Center in Caracas, founded and organized the International Jewish Film Festival Caracas, and taught drawing and painting workshops for adults.

Since emigrating to Miami, Florida, in 2017, I have become an American citizen and continue to pursue my artistic career and teaching endeavors.

Statement

Statement

Throughout my career, I experimented and worked in multiple mediums including painting, sculpture, etching, photography, and silversmith. Mainly figurative, and a style that seems playful, my artwork is influenced by a combination of expressionism and contemporary art. I draw inspiration from journeys and travels that shaped my life experience. From my parents’ long journey to South America during WWII to my own migration to the US eight years ago, topics of movements and moments of human life fuel my work where darkness is fading and is being replaced by the joy of life. I use old photographs that capture specific instances and reimagine the opportunities and futures that lay ahead of the ‘characters’ in them, situations that are sometimes real, sometimes fictional. As a result, my paintings reflect the possibilities and ‘what ifs’ of people marked by different life experiences while still in search of “joie de vivre”.  By using the past to reimagine the future, I hope to inspire my audience to think about the journey.
