Bio | Anita Kucharczyk (b. 1990) is a Polish-born visual artist currently based in Southern California. Her work explores the properties and perception of light through various media, including painting, installation, animation, and projection mapping. Â Immersive, site-specific experiences that investigate the interplay between light, color, and space, are a result of her work. Her practice often blurs the boundaries between artwork and environment, resulting in fully amplified sensory installations undisturbed by external influences. Kucharczyk holds an MFA in Painting (2015) and an MA in Media Arts (2016) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland. In addition to her studio practice, Kucharczyk is a member of Tiger Strikes Asteroid LA and works as a Creative Director at The Experiential Co. Her work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions around the globe including at Lightbox, New York, NY; Gallery Pado, Los Angeles, CA; Satellite Art Show, Miami, FL; Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, Denver, CO; QiPO Fair, Mexico City, Mexico; Horse And Pony, Berlin, Germany; Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Poland; The Holy Art Gallery, London, England; Neo Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan; Mona Art Club, Tel Aviv, Israel. |

Statement
Statement | My subject matter is light. There is something mystical about it—sacred, unknown, elusive. It’s beyond visual experience, even spiritual. Contact with light is very personal and intimate. I strive towards a comprehensive study of light, followed by an ongoing and meticulous examination of color and form in a variety of projects. Fascinated with the diversity of light, I examine refractive and reflective qualities of objects, surfaces and materials. I look for light in color and composition. Strongly influenced by the Light and Space Movement, I have a deep interest in how the luminous properties of an object alter our perception of reality and how they affect our feelings. Each color and its visual properties carry a specific emotional resonance and—when used properly—can convey a spectrum of emotions to the viewer. It takes both an object and it’s viewer to make a whole—a unique interaction in time and space. None of my artworks mean anything without a person experiencing them. Unseen work is as if it never existed. Only when the message is conveyed is the work complete.
