| Bio | b. Caracas, Venezuela; lives and works in Miami, FL. Natalie Flores Luxat uses basic forms and noble materials, such as clay and metal, to create the tension of intrigue that would make the viewer want to explore further. Natalie is a Graphic and Industrial Designer. She graduated from the Instituto ProDiseño in Caracas, Venezuela; also completing Studies in Product Design from the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kunste Stuttgart, Germany. She was the first-place winner in the Contest for Designing Children’s Parks, organized by the city of Greven, Germany. In 2018, she had her first solo exhibition at Imago Gallery in Miami titled ¿Qué hora son mi corazón?. Some of her selected group exhibitions are Home Sweet Home and ARTasting at HARTvest Project in Miami, 2021, and 2019. Bowls and Vases at Imago Gallery in Miami, 2017. 10X10 at Tieton Arts, in Tieton, Washington State, 2016. Ela foi a vencedora do primeiro lugar no Concurso de Desenho de Parques Infantis, organizado pela cidade de Greven, na Alemanha. Statement
| Statement | I am the daughter of an immigrant, and I am an immigrant myself, having moved between Venezuela, Germany, and finally, the United States. When studied intimately, my work is a conversation about being uprooted, an experience that has marked my life since childhood.  Nonetheless, it would be a lie if I said that I start any given project with such a clear conceptual framework. In my creative process, I always begin by exploring the formal suggestions of the materials I work with: clay, wood, and metal. I let these materials express themselves and let them say what they have to say. However, over the years, I’ve come to realize that the final result — once the piece has been fired and fully processed — reveals a rupture, a longing for unity that can be seen across my work.  In other words, it is only later, when I see the final result, that I realize that my sculptures have given a visual form to the experience of exile.
