Bio | For 14 years Cristine has been developing work around research between thought and matter inspired by her mentors Antoni Gaudi, Wassily Kandinsky, Henry Moore and Calder. Paulistana, born in 1964, lived in Seattle, Miami, Curitiba and Mexico City, learning to value family and adapting to new cultures and the new. She graduated in Visual Arts at the Tuiuti University of Paraná, Brazil and discovered Glass in 2007, in Curitiba, to explore it from 2008 to 2011, with Romero Gurman, in Mexico. She went to Northlands Creative in 2016, in Scotland, a milestone in her artistic life, inspiring her to have her first solo exhibition in 2017, Alma de Vidro, in Ouro Preto -MG, Brazil. Cristine gained international recognition with exhibitions in St Petersburg, FL in 2019, and Sweden, in 2020. She began to stand out after her participation in The Venice Glass Week, as an artist selected by the HUB jury, in 2021, where she presented Viva la Vida. In 2022, she was invited to participate in the UN committee for the International Year of Glass in Art. Participated in the 1st. International Biennial of Glass Art Iberoamerica, in Costa Rica, as a guest artist. Her work Omni.PRESENCE received recognition from the Imagine Museum, FL, USA and was donated to FUNCDEVI institutional collection. Still in 2022, she participated in the ACAV exhibition, “Glass a time traveller” , in Barcelona and the Salão de Arte em Vidro Brasil, in Curitiba. She has been a member of the Glass Art Society (USA) since 2014. Also a member of ACAV (Spain), CGS – Contemporary Glass Society (United Kingdom), Scottish Glass Society (Scotland) and AACG (USA). |

Statement | Cristine Baena explores the connection between living beings and nature through transparency and light effects, creating immersive installations or sculptures to activate sensory curiosity activating mental spaces of meditation and abstraction and bringing a unique experience. |
