Bio | Kana Gray is a French-Vietnamese visual artist and self-taught photographer living in Brooklyn. Kana’s primary medium is photography, a craft she has practiced over a decade. Her artistic journey began with a focus on street photography, capturing the raw essence of urban life, before gradually transitioning to landscapes, to get a wider perspective on life, as well as to portraiture, getting closer and more intimate into the human experience. Fueled by a passion for exploration and a desire to immerse herself in diverse cultures and landscapes, Kana embarked on numerous travels to far away destinations. These experiences serve as inspiration, enriching her artistic vision. 10 years ago, Kana visited New York City, fell in love with its vibrant energy, multiculturalism, and thriving art scene, and decided to relocate there. In 2019, seeking a change of pace and a deeper connection with nature, she temporarily moved to Honolulu, where she discovered a profound appreciation for the natural world, which manifested more intensely in her artistic expression. Upon returning to New York, Kana expanded her artistic repertoire by working in an art studio, immersing herself in the world of sculpture, design, and installation art, and allowing her to explore different materials and techniques, further diversifying her skills and enhancing her creative versatility. Throughout her artistic journey, Kana has been actively involved in organizing and participating in various art events, group shows, figure drawing sessions, and mural projects, as she seeks to engage with and learn from fellow artists. |
