Subjectively Personified Doll Series

In working with dolls I was trying to show a different idea about how to show the symbology of counterculture and punk aesthetics. For me it came from looking into how the scale is representative of having a child like quality. Because when you think about it children are not born with any sense of authority at all. Which then parallels this anti-authoritative stance of youth symbolizing free spirit and creative curiosity. Then with the blanked surface you get to paint in a certain identity to what you wanted it to be. So I chose a disfiguration that has the look of merging the babies and teenage nostalgia in an unnerving way where identity is a fragment of social constructs. They become so frustrated by it, feeling alone and isolated eventually they identify with each other as “outsiders.
