The Influx of Discourse
A UA 2024 Community Group Show
After months of studying Michel Foucault’s The Order of Discourse, a collective of artists from the Uncool Artist community—Amy Deal, Aledra, Summer McCroskey, Fábia Bercsek, Kayla Griffin, Maria Kunigk, Nirvana SQ, Michan Pour-Azar, Mikaela Montenegro, Debora Rayel, Clarice Sanvicente, Petya Zasheva, and Ana Julia Vilella—use their work to explore how discourse shapes power, identity, and the body. Through layers of textile, sound, and text, this exhibition constructs a collective female body that intertwines personal and communal stories of control, autonomy, and resistance. Structured into distinct “rooms,” each space invites visitors to engage with a new dimension of discourse, where language and authority intersect. Join this boundary-defying conversation and take part in the shared creative process by acquiring fragments of the artworks, becoming part of a continually evolving narrative.
